Here we bring you two expressions used in the same context of talking about skills, but their structures are different and they are often confused by non-native speakers. I am good at cooking, but even so I am unable to make paella. Let’s not look for much logic as to why some structures or collocations, remember that language is arbitrary in many aspects.

To talk about abilities, we can use ser very good/bad + gerund or ser capable/unable to + infinitive. Say if you are capable/incapable or good/bad at doing these things.

 

Montar a caballo:  ____________ .

Contar hasta cien en español: ______________.

Jugar al baloncesto: _______________.

Hacer submarinismo con tiburones________________.

Preparar un plato elaborado _______________.
